Gateway Classic Cars of Denver welcomes this Classic 1976 Chrysler New Yorker
The 1976 Chrysler New Yorker was comparable to the Cadillac and the Lincoln of the day in terms of Luxury features, but cost way less, much closer to a Buick Electra and a Oldsmobile 98 “ So why pay more and risk getting less, just says yes! “ (this was the campaign slogan for the Chrysler New Yorker) One out of 5 buyers for 1976 were looking for a Full size car that was: spacious, quiet, relaxing, comfortable, this is just that. Much bolder luxury front end styling form the previous model year. This one is still in it’s original condition, plus a tow hitch. Should you want to tow a small trailer, you could with the power of the big 440 C.I.(estimated 205HP/ 340TQ) under the hood. The inside is where the New Yorker stands above, the 50/50 front seat are velour super plush floating cushions with dual arm rests. There is arm rest in the back seat as well, which was not offer by its low end competitors of the time. The seats sit high for better visibility over the big front corners. The glove box is easier to access as it’s in the center and has a coin holder in it. The body has a full length “ door ding“ guard. Black Pin Stripe down the body length, and Burgundy Brougham vinyl top. Even though it’s a 4 door it’s a post less with frames less windows. What a super plush ride for a for that long Highway trip to see your friends/ relatives that are several states away.
