Alan Temiryaev of New York Fencing Academy | In the Zone

The dictionary says an epee is, quote, “a fencing or dueling sword having a bowl-shaped guard and a rigid blade of triangular section with no cutting edge that tapers to a sharp point blunted for fencing.“ That’s a big definition for a small kid, but at ten years of age, a young Brooklynite named Alan Temiryaev was handed an epee and now, as a high school sophomore, he’s on the US National Fencing Team.
