Termite gut fauna 400x

The video shows microbial eukaryotic symbionts (mostly Trichonympha sp.) found in a termite gut, as seen primarily with phase contrast & fluorescence illumination on a microscope at 400x mangification. Archaeal symbionts of the eukaryotes, which produce cellulase, are visible as fluorescent patches seen inside (& perhaps also outside) of the Trichonympha when the light is dimmed.
