Hurricane Tammy hits tiny Barbuda in the Caribbean

Hurricane Tammy made landfall on the Caribbean island of Barbuda. The National Hurricane Center said Tammy came ashore Saturday night with 85 mph winds. The hurricane was moving north-northwest at 10 mph and by late Saturday was centered 15 miles north-northwest of Barbuda. Hurricane warnings remained in effect for the islands of Barbuda, Anguilla, St. Martin and St. Barthelmy. The warning was lifted for Antigua. The hurricane center said that “heavy rainfall and flooding (are) likely over much of the Lesser Antilles.”
