Powerful M6.5 earthquake splits the ground and collapses houses in Amazonas, Brazil
An earthquake of magnitude 6.5 occurred in the western part of the state of Amazonas, the epicenter of which was approximately 123 km northwest of Tarahuaca, Brazil.
The tremor occurred at a depth of about 629 km, and light shaking may have been felt in parts of Amazonas and Acre states.
Some buildings were partially destroyed and private houses were damaged.
Utility outages are possible, particularly near the earthquake’s epicenter.
