Shockumentary: The Making of Shock To The System (1993)

Short documentary of the making of Billy Idol’s “Shock To The System“ music video, which featured practical/makeup/special effects by Stan Winston studios. The original music video is a “cyberpunk“ version of the song, both of which are about Rodney King and the L.A. Riots of 1992. Sadly, I can’t show you the original music video in high quality as UMG has blocked ALL uploads of the music video WORLDWIDE. So all you get to watch is VEVO’s shitty upload of the music video from 10 years ago, incorrectly converted to 30p. Source: Retail VHS that contained the music video, this “shockumentary“, a music video for Heroin, and a music video remix of Shock To The System. The video quality for this one is a little wonky, as the tape I had access to was slightly stretched and I had to run it through a TBC. As a result, some of the fields aren’t quite intact. Adding to the confusion is that most of the video material is 30p (an artistic choice by the editor, but was done by field doubling so there’s half the vertical resolution there should be), and on top of that the fields are delayed by one field in the original source material. I did the best I could.
