Exploring DUBOVKA in Volgograd Region, Russia. Merchant Houses, Abandoned Sanatorium, 200yo Oak Tree

Live stream from Dubovka, the town in Volgograd region on the bank of Volga river (about 40km north of Volgograd). The population in 2024 is almost 15,000 residents. Dubovka founded in 1734 as an outpost in the southeast of Russian Empire to defend it from Mongolian nomads. Later being on the bank of Volga river, Dubovka used to develop as a merchant’s town. Until the end of 19th century it was even more significant town than Tsaritsyn (Stalingrad/Volgograd), but when in 1871, the railway connecting Volga region and central Russia was built through Tsartsyn, Dubovka lost its big significance. In the years of WWII, the frontline never reached Dubovka, therefore here are still saved a lot of old merchant houses.
