Martín Sánchez Allú: Nocturno Sentimental “El canto del cisne“

Allu (1823-1858) was a Spanish composer and pianist. His varied musical production stands out and especially his zarzuelas and works for piano. Despite the quality of his work, he did not enjoy great recognition in life. He began to study music at the age of nine at the Salamanca Cathedral choir school for children , then directed by the organist Francisco Olivares. In parallel, he entered the University of Salamanca to study Latin grammar and philosophy, obtaining excellent grades. However, due to some vision problems and his taste for music, he decided to abandon university studies and dedicate himself solely to his artistic vocation. He began to perform at the Artistic Lyceum of Salamanca at the age of fifteen with his teacher Olivares and, two years later, he made his first compositions of music for piano (fantasies, rigodones, variations, waltzes) and works of the religious genre.
