Pride 1982 - Diamond Life ft Sade on vocals

Pride 1982 - Diamond Life aka Smooth Operator Live at Ronnie Scotts. This was the original song Diamond Life being played in the band Pride and sang by Sade at the time. It features a lot more harder hitting drum line by Paul Anthony Cooke who adpated a rim shot to later smoother adapted versions when he was in the band Sade and this eventually was used by her in the song Smooth Operator and released on her first album, funnily enough called Diamond Life in 1984, this became a worldwide hit for her. Where it began for Sade, Pride previously called The Germans a group of boys from the Queen Elizabeth High School Barnet. A friend of theirs Lee Barrett after living in NYC in 1980 returned back to London and joined the band as their manager. He persuaded them to change their bands name to Pride and to make more Latin music. Helen Adu from Clacton Essex and Barbara Robinson had been auditioned and provided the backing vocals.
