The eruption of Mount Etna, followed by torrential flooding on the island of Sicily, Italy. Mt Etna began erupting on the morning of October 23rd 2021. This was the latest in a series of eruptions throughout 2021, with fears that the severity is increasing. The following day, severe flooding hit the area surrounding Mt Etna. Most affected was Scordia a municipality of the city of Catania, as torrential rain hit the area. Vehicles were washed away by the force of the flooding, with residents being trapped in their homes. Rescue operations are underway to relocate affected citizens.
