Lada Kochtcheeva: Russia’s struggle with innovations

Lada Kochtcheeva an associate professor of political science (School of public and international affairs, North Carolina State University). Her academic interests and expertize include comparative politics, politics of post-Soviet and post-Communist countries, comparative social movements, and transitions to democracy. Her current research centers on the nature of domestic responses to globalization and the linkages between globalization and environment. Lada is the author of such books as «Russian Politics and Response to Globalization» and «Comparative Environmental Regulation in the United States and Russia: Institutions, Flexible Instruments, and Governance». Despite the measures taken in recent years, including significant investments in education and science, innovative activity in Russia remains low, which continues to jeopardize country’s sustainability and economic competitiveness.
