Tan Dun – Nu Shu: the Secret Songs of Women
In 2013, the Oscar and Grammy Awards winner, the most important contemporary Chinese composer Tan Dun created Nu Shu: The Secret Songs of Women — Symphony for 13th microfilms, harp, and orchestra. The microfilms are based on more than 200 hours of video which had been filmed during several years of Nu Shu language research.
In 2018, Maestro Tan Dun invited Artyom Dervoed to arrange the symphony for the guitar.
A year later, at the XIV Guitar Virtuosi Moscow International Festival, the Nu Shu eight movements guitar transcription were premiered. A few months later, the two artists premiered the entire Nu Shu: The Secret Songs Of Women symphony in China, with Qingdao Symphony orchestra.
