Roman Ruins (1968)

Fishbourne, Sussex. Workmen digging a trench near the A 27 have found remains of a Roman Palace. Underneath the road, there is a Roman village - archaeologists claim. Archaeologists claim that Roman King Cogidubnus had been using this palace for orgies. People are seen digging near the road. One of the workmen takes something from the muddy trench, cleans it and shows it to camera. It is probably a piece of a Roman mosaic. A girl archaeologist is seen working first on location and later in a room - probably museum. She is cleaning little stone pieces of the mosaic. A woman wearing colourful apron is seen hoovering a mosaic wearing colourful apron - as if she is in her living room. Mosaics are left where found and platforms were erected so people can walk around them and whole site is transformed into museum. Succession of shots of great mosaics, some with parts missing - all amazing. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV. IT’S FULL OF GREAT DOC
