Koussevitzky Double Bass Concerto played by Rinat Ibragimov - Higher quality audio recording
Serge Koussevitzky: Concerto for Double Bass and Orchestra, Op. 3. Performed by Rinat Ibragimov & Miriam Leskis.
This was originally uploaded in two parts by @hwk194103 in 2010, I’m deeply grateful to them for putting this incredible interpretation of the piece onto YouTube and making it so easily accessible for double bass players around the world. I’ve chosen to combine these videos into one cohesive recording as I wanted to give listeners the option to hear the full, unbroken performance.
I’ve worked to improve the audio quality and reduce background noise using spectral subtraction and EQ adjustments. I’ve attempted to do this with as little impact on the overall sound and feel of the recording as possible, and I’ve worked to preserve the purity and nuance of Rinat’s beautiful playing and sound in every way I could.
I’m uploading this with the greatest respect and admiration for Mr. Ibragimov, he’s been a musical hero of mine for many years and this is offered here in honour of everything he embodied as both a musician and person. I hope everyone enjoys hearing this spellbinding recording as much as I’ve enjoyed working on it.
Rinat plays a double bass attributed to Matthias Albani II and an experimental French bow circa 1900, he’s using Pirastro Eudoxa Solo strings.
