If you are a climbing arborist a tree worker or into recreational tree climbing then you have to know tree climbing basics, which actually starts on the to get your climbing rope into the tree. The climbing knots used are:
1) Simple overhand stopper knot tied onto the throw line bag. This one is the quickest and is useful if you have isolated a nice open crotch.
2)Pile hitch, half hitch, clove hitch combination. This one takes a little longer to tie but is less likely to get snagged on twigs.
3)Common whipping knot. Takes the longest to tie and untie but is useful if you have a lot of twigs and brush to navigate.
