The House-monument of the Party, a communist monument on Buzludzha peak in Bulgaria. It was opened in 1981, and fell into disrepair after the collapse of the regime in 1989. Inside, mosaics depicting communist politicians (Dimitrov, Blagoev, Zhivkov, Marx, Engels, Lenin) and the history of the party stretch around the circumference of a large ceremonial hall. The accompanying music is a workers’ song whose lyrics appear in large concrete letters to the right of the monument’s main entrance.
