Gavin Bey AKA Bee Gee, made the trip down from Perth in Scotland to Santa Pod Raceway in Northampton, to race at the Flame & Thunder Show, in his Mazda RX7. Not your Usual RX7. Gav’s one is running a fully built Honda K24 engine, with his own designed Pulsar compound turbo setup, managed by a Maxx ECU, and putting the power down via a BMW X5 M gearbox and front diff, with a BMW 7 series rear diff. Why be the same as everyone else :)
The car has the potential for 1000 bhp, but on the day, the estimate was 700 to 750bhp.
PB before the event was a 9.4 on an unprepped track. He blew this out the water with two 9.0 runs, narrowly missing his goal of . The trap speed was down, and Gavin explained this was due to coolant pressure issues, and the sensors were cutting power at the top end. The 8 second run is there, and I’m sure he will be back next year.
