Wavegrove HCL Islander, just another compressor - saturator?

Wavegrove has based its latest plugin on a mastering hardware unit, the HandCrafted Laboratories Islander. This is a vari-mu compressor together with a clipper. There are a lot of features in Wavegrove HCL Islander that make this plugin a perfect colorimg tool: two types of saturation and a Temph knob to alter the sound of the high frequencies. The compression itself is very transparent and natural, with a convenient switch for Feed Back or Feed Forward path for the low-end side chain. To complete the features of Wavegrove HCL Islander there are extended oversampling options up to 16x, mid/side and dual mono operation, Gain Link to preserve the dry/wet balance, CTRL Link to link the two channels controls. I have been committing myself to music since I was 11: that’s when I began playing guitar. In the following years I have collected experience with bands and live gigs in Apulia, Southern Italy. In parallel with this, I started recording my own instrumental songs and releasing some albums throughout the years. However, I have always been fascinated not just in playing with band mates and arranging songs as a group, but also in how to make the different instruments work together in a mix. Indeed, I felt that it is another crucial aspect which helps the potential of a song to express itself. So I decided to attend some courses about sound engineering, mix, mastering and the software Logic Pro X.
