Toxic Hearts 💚
Toxic Hearts 💚 They were hearts, but not the kind that beat with life and love. They were the kind that fed on pain and hate. They had corrupted each other, twisted each other, wounded each other in ways that no other creature could. They had become abominations, deformed by their own malice and remorse. They were no longer organs, but instruments of agony. One had spikes, protruding from its surface with every throb, making it feel the torment it had inflicted and endured. The other was filled with poison, seeping from its veins with every surge, poisoning it with bitterness and rage. They could not exist without each other, but they could not exist with each other either. They were cursed to a fate worse than extinction: a cycle of consuming and being consumed by the one they loathed and craved the most. They devoured each other. Over and over. Until the end of time. 💚 ©2023 Jan Olav Baustad. All rights reserved.
