Edges is Jackson Harvey’s first formal full-length album. The saxophonist went for an alto sax-bass-drums setting delivering a mixture of chaotic and classic free jazz showcasing the saxophonist’s creative improvisational style.
The record carries a rebellious attitude explored through abstract searches and swinging tunes drenched in blues, although containing modern sensibilities. The all-original set features the band stretching out and Harvey flowing from pretty melodies to fast, furious passages. The trio setting, which Jackson is using more and more, gives the saxophonist a sense of space that favors his loose style. Linda Wilkins on bass and Daniel on drums go from passionate mayhem to joyous swing throughout the outing, following Jackson and providing inspired solos.
Jackson Harvey - alto sax, composition
Linda Wilkins - electric bass
Daniel Casares - drums, production
