Benny Fields: Remember Me To Carolina 1944

Benny Fields (1894-1959) was a vaudeville & mintsrel performer in the early part of the 20th Century. Once very popular, the art form is all but forgotten today because of its negative overtones & stereotypes. This was Fields only film acting role, other than playing himself. I post this rare number from MINSTREL MAN because it was Oscar nominated in 1944. It was composed by Harry Revel with lyrics by future Oscar winner Paul Francis Webster.
