10 March
Tibet in History
March 10, 1959: On this day in 1959, thousands of Tibetans, fearing that the Chinese might abduct His Holiness the Dalai Lama, gathered at the Norbulingka summer palace to protect their leader. The vast crowds of Tibetans protested against the Chinese occupation of Tibet and the suffering they had endured since the invasion of their country in 1949.
