Armenia: Pashinyan supporters celebrate his election in Yerevan
Armenia’s incumbent prime minister, Nikol Pashinyan, has held on to his grip on power.
Months after a defeat in a conflict with Azerbaijan that prompted mass protests demanding his resignation, Pashinyan has won Sunday’s snap parliamentary election.
Tens of thousands of his supporters rallied in the capital Yerevan as Pashinyan pledged to build what he called a “new Armenia“.
His opponent, Robert Kocharyan, has rejected the defeat, claiming there were voting irregularities.
