Falconry Trapping 2018

2018 opening day of falconry trapping in Michigan. This was our second bird of the day. He ended up being too small. We did a quick medical evaluation and set him free. He flew back to the fence where he was trapped from, and went about his day. The hawk didn’t even fly away while we packed up our gear. Very cool encounter. Each person involved is a licensed falconer with a legal trapping permit to handle this animal. To become a licensed falconer is a lengthy process involving testing and an apprenticeship program.
