THE HOAXSTERS COLD WAR ANTI-COMMUNIST DOCUMENTARY 88294

Made in 1952 and produced by the legendary Dore Shary, THE HOAXSTERS is an American documentary film written by Herman Hoffman, about the threat posed by communism to the American way of life. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. The film compares Hitler and Mussolini to a carnival barker and a snake oil salesman, and connects their outrageous talk to that of the Bolsheviks, in particular Josef Stalin. The film includes the voices of Marilyn Erskine, Howard Keel, George Murphy, Walter Pidgeon, Dore Schary, Barry Sullivan, Robert Taylor, James Whitmore and Sidney Tomack as the Snake Oil Salesman.
