대홍단 삼천리 - The Broad Expanse of Taehongdan (Pochonbo Electronic Ensemble)

Taehongdan County is an area in Ryanggang province of DPRK. It is famed in the modern era for its agricultural production (especially potatoes) and also for one of the DPRK’s great monuments, the Monument to the Victorious Battle in Musan Area. Kim Il Sung fought Japanese imperialists in this area, while Kim Jong Il turned it into the country’s largest potato farm. 삼천리 / Three Thousand Ri - A reference to the 3000 ri (1200 km) length of Korea. This phrase is no longer used in DPRK as of 2024, notably being edited out of the national anthem.
