Pope Pushes UKRAINE To Negotiate. Says Kiev Is Failing And Will Only Suffer More.
Pope Francis stunned quite a few people over the weekend with an interview he gave in which he called on Ukraine (not Russia) to “have the courage“ to negotiate. This is a sark reminder that it is the Collective West that is still standing in the way of a settlement in Europe. We know from Putin’s many interviews, especially the one with Tucker Carlson that he is willing to negotiate but that it is Ukraine and the West that even now still believes more can be won on the battlefield and hence no real talks should be initiated.
Turns out, Pope Francis is a realist. With an accurate assessment of how the war is going (not in favour of Ukraine) he calls on the weaker one to have courage for negotiations. Of course this sits not well with Ukraine. Dimitri Kuleba reacted immediately, rejecting any such ideas and reminding the pope that, after all, Russia was the evil one that needs to be defeated. No peace in sight yet but maybe first signs of more realism coming for once form the Catholic church.
