The idea was born by Amine’s (guitars, vocals) previous project, entitled ’’Mass’’, dating from the Algerian metal of the ’90s. He soon convinced Reda (guitars, ex-WORTH) to form a group and Salah, friend and session bassist, took up the basss duties. The three met Michael (drums, ex-MYST) in 2007 and this is when the group was finally established as ACYL. Composition and recording of more than 20 tracks followed in the next two years, resulting in their self-produced EP ’’The Angel’s Sin’’ in September 2010. The recording of their debut album ’’Algebra’’ followed in July 2011 at ’’Tower Studio’’ and was finally distributed by M&O Music in February 2012. Soon after the release of ’’Algebra’’, Abder’Rahman (ex-DAWN OF DECLINE, ex-ARKAN) joined the band as a guitarist. The band’s style is heavily influenced by cultural rhythms, especially Arabic and those of the Algerian Sahara, mixing rock and metal in an innovative way. The use of traditional instruments adds to the originality of the final result, which goes beyond the ’’ethnic-metal’’ tag, blending their sound with progressive metal and extreme metal elements.
