On Wednesday, July 13, 2022 was honored to witness the dignified transfer of the last World War II Medal of Honor recipient, a Marine, Hershel Woodrow “Woody” Williams
L/CPL Cedar C. Ross “Woody’s” Great Grandson was his escort from West Virginia to Joint Base Andrews.
Hershel “Woody” Williams lied in honor in the Capital Rotunda, then his hearse took “Woody” to the World War II Memorial for additional honors.
