Franz Jaksch - Elegie for Double Bass and Piano Franz Jaksch (German: Franz Jaksch; October 10, 1851, Nova Bistrshice, now the district of Jindrzychow Hradec, Czech Republic — March 3, 1931, Bregenz) was an Austrian conductor and composer. Son of Adalbert Jaksch (1826-1911), Bregenz city kapellmeister (1864-1899). Graduated from the Prague Conservatory. He served as a conductor in the orchestra of the 49th Infantry Regiment of the Austro-Hungarian Army. Since 1875, the city kapellmeister in Peche. In 1878 he resumed his career as a military conductor in the 76th Infantry Regiment. Since 1882, Professor of chamber ensemble and instrumentation at the Horak Conservatory in Vienna; among his students, in particular, Rudolf Glick and Luigi von Kunitz.
