The release features a music video shot in the still of the night, on the deserted streets of downtown Manhattan. JES paces the streets, delivering an intimate performance in all those familiar places. The video features some of the artist’s favorite spots in the city but was filmed at a time when most of us are asleep. When asked about the decision to shoot in the dead of night, JES answered: “I wanted the video to show a different side of the city, in the same way, Where Are You Now shows a different side to the normal breakup story. The city comes alive at night in a completely different way than it is during the day. We always have these formulated ideas about how things are or are going to be. Everyone was worried about shooting in Central Park in the middle of the night. But, once we got there, people were cycling, running, and hanging out with their friends. It was like a whole different experience than what we had imagined.” Driven by an impassioned vocal performance and a haunting backing vocal theme, the video brings a liberating depth and understanding to a situation we all know only too well. Where Are You Now connects and delivers a message of dark intentions, which ultimately lead to empowerment and redemption.
