Thousands took to the streets to protest a military defence treaty between Slovakia and the United States, both NATO members, in Bratislava on Tuesday. The protesters gathered in front of the Parliament and waved flags whilst being controlled by a police presence. Some carried signs which read, “No US bases in Slovakia.“ The treaty would enable the US military to use two Slovakian air force bases for ten years, and also provide money to maintain the bases. It is currently supported by Prime Minister Eduard Heger and his four-party coalition government. The treaty is currently being debated with a vote expected on Wednesday. #Slovakia #NATO Video ID: 20220209-016 Video on Demand: Contact: cd@ Twitter: Facebook:
