Swahili is a Bantu language initially spoken by the Swahili people in Tanzania, Kenya, and Mozambique. It has over 200 million speakers, mostly in Tanzania. Sandawe is a language spoken by approximately 60,000 people in Tanzania’s Dodoma Region. It features click consonants, a rare trait shared with Hadza and Dahalo in East Africa, which previously led to its classification in the now-defunct Khoisan family. The language is actively used by both adults and children, with some areas being monolingual. Sandawe has two dialects: northwest and southeast.
