Tryrush Deppy (トライラッシュデッピー) is a 1996 Sega Saturn title developed by System Supply N-Tech. The game stars Deppy, an anthropomorphic taxi cab, in a race across America from New York to Las Vegas. Despite the racing theme, this is actually a platformer. While the game does emphasize the need to move quickly, it’s really more about exploration and blowing up baddies than anything else. Deppy takes place across five main stages, and for the most part, it’s typical platformer fare: Jump this, destroy that, and solve the occasional puzzle in between. The game also tosses in a few secrets dealing with collectibles and side missions like rescuing your fellow racers. Add in a chargeable rush attack and a gas gauge that constantly needs to be replenished and there’s just enough variety here to keep things interesting. Overall the game looks and sounds very nice.
