Storm Franklin: Parts of the UK flooded as three named storms hit in one week for first time

It was the third named storm in the last week, resulting in widespread travel disruption, flooding and destruction from flying debris and falling trees. Areas in the Midlands and north of England, such as Derbyshire, Yorkshire and Worcestershire, were affected by heavy winds and lashing overnight rain. Towns along the Derwent Valley in Derbyshire saw severe flooding in the area, with Matlock’s High Street submerged in water as overnight rain from Storm Franklin hit the area particularly badly.
