Selected originals (offcuts, selected scenes, out-takes, rushes) for story “Blue Riband First Try“ 52/56. On board the SS ’United States’ during its maiden voyage across the Atlantic. A band of musicians walk in line playing their instruments - they are dressed in tuxedos. People behind them are doing a rather sedate conga. They are also dressed up for celebrations - by the looks of their costumes and the date it appears to be a celebration of American Independence day July 4th. The band plays as people stand round - they may be playing the American National Anthem. A man raises a broom. Dancing scenes on board. (The lighting on these scenes is not great and there are some scratches) Passengers waving goodbye to crowds on quayside. Fireships spray plumes of water into the air in the background. (Badly scratched) A warship is scene in the harbour. Possibly the British aircraft carrier HMS Indomitable.
