ABC TV | How To Make Lesser Bougainvillea Flowers With Crepe Paper - Craft Tutorial

Bougainvillea glabra, the lesser bougainvillea or paperflower, is the most common species of bougainvillea used for bonsai. The epithet ’glabra’ comes from Latin and means “bald“. A popular cultivated plant especially in house-front gardens. The other related species, Bougainvillea spectabilis is a larger, more robust creeper plant which posses spines on the stem. The vivid colour of the ’flowers’ comes from modified leaves referred to as floral bracts and in a morphological sense, they are not an essential part of the flower. The true flower is the trumpet-shaped, pale yellow structure at the centre of the colourful floral bracts.
