💜 BTS sang a different verse in the mv they made, compared to what they sing live. And that’s the reason I made both videos. Here is a link to the live version: This song is about the padded jacket fad that was sweeping South Korea when this song was released, and for many years before and after. Around 2008-2009, it became increasingly popular among (mainly) high school students to wear padded jackets, more specifically those from North Face. In order to fit in and not be ostracized at school, many students put a lot of pressure on their parents to pay for a jacket for them. Due to their notoriously high prices, the jackets became to be called the spine breakers because students would break their parent’s backs to keep up with the expensive trends. Wearing the same or a similar jacket was a sign of conformity (or simply that of being trendy) in the beginning but quickly became a symbol of status and class division. This is BTS’s first-ever self-produced music video! And it came to be because the boys were given a mission to make their own MV, a self MV production on their show Gayo that they had and were shooting during their concert tours.
