Diana and Mohamed Al-Fayed at Prince Charles’ Polo Match – Uncut Footage (1988)
On 2 July 1988, Diana, Princess of Wales presented prizes to her husband, Prince Charles, and his victorious teammates at a charity polo match held on Smith’s Lawn in Windsor Great Park. The Princess was joined by Mohamed Al-Fayed, the owner of Harrods and the father of her future boyfriend, Dodi Al-Fayed. This footage of Diana and Mohamed was recorded four years before the Prince and Princess of Wales announced their separation, and eight years before their divorce was finalised.
It was announced on 1 September 2023 that Mohamed Al-Fayed had died aged 94. His family released a statement confirming Al-Fayed “passed away peacefully of old age on Wednesday August 30, 2023,“ adding that “he enjoyed a long and fulfilled retirement surrounded by his loved ones.“
