Royal Family Comes Together After Charles and Diana Divorce for Prince William’s Confirmation (1997)
On 9 March 1997, the Royal Family came together to attend Prince William’s confirmation service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. Queen Elizabeth II was joined by Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother while Prince Charles, Prince of Wales and Diana, Princess of Wales arrived with their sons, 14-year-old Prince William and 12-year-old Prince Harry, in what may have been the couple’s last public appearance together. Princess Diana died in a car crash in Paris just five months after this footage was filmed. The service was also attended by WIlliam’s godfather, King Constantine II of Greece.
On 27 February 2024, Prince William, Prince of Wales pulled out of a memorial service to his late godfather Constantine II at the last minute due to a “personal issue“. The last king of Greece, who was forced into exile in 1967 following a coup by officers of the Greek military, died on 10 January 2023 aged 82. The memorial service was attended by Queen Camilla.
