Inauguration of the First Sri Chinmoy Peace-Kilometer in Vienna

Inauguration of the First Sri Chinmoy Peace-Kilometer in Vienna Vienna, June 21, 2024 — Friday marked the inauguration of the first Sri Chinmoy Peace-Kilometer in Vienna, a project that began in February with a proposal to the city and received official approval on May 17. The kilometer-long course, which is officially measured by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), is distinguished by 125 Peace Birds painted on the ground to guide visitors along the path. This new peace initiative complements an earlier project from two years ago, the Sri Chinmoy Peace Tree. The same community of Vienna officials, who oversee city monuments, has now embraced the Peace-Kilometer, further solidifying the city’s commitment to promoting peace and harmony. The city had requested the creation of a plaque that features both the Peace Tree and the Peace-Kilometer, along with a depiction of the course. The Peace-Kilometer winds around a small park and continues through surrounding areas, providing a serene route for reflection and tranquility.
