Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Remake for Sega Megadrive/Genesis - Dev Diary 1

As part of my journey to learn how to code, I decided on attempting a remake of this Playstation/Saturn classic, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. This is obviously a fan-made game, and is being created for non-commercial, educational purposes only. The project got off to a pretty smooth start (my first project, a remake of the GG Shinobi game, was a lot rougher). I still have a lot to do, including enemy collision and AI, and I hope to post more updates later this year. As stated in the video, this will be more of a “re-imagining“ rather than a “remake“, as I wanted the game to be a fresh experience for fans of the franchise, not merely an inferior port of the 32-bit original. It will be more like the 16-bit Castlevanias (Bloodlines, Super Castlevania 4, Rondo of Blood) in design.
