China holds dominant positions in the processing and refining of Antimony ores, and these new curbs seem somewhat similar to Beijing’s export restrictions on some rare earth metals, graphite, and magnets, especially for materials designated as “dual use“ with civilian and military applications. Antimony is a necessary material in night-vision goggles, nuclear weapons, and small-caliber munitions. But there is a global supply crunch for Antimony, and mining output in producing countries is falling sharply.
