Various shots of an outdoor market in Funchal, C/Us of various vegetables and M/S of shoppers. Wine growing terraces are seen, C/Us of bunches of grapes. Religious procession celebrating the wine harvest. Various shots of girls in white dresses and religious statues being carried through the streets. A knife grinder is seen. Various traditional crafts - basket making - a young boy and older men and women work on baskets and chairs. (Narrator makes a joke about “objets wicker“) L/S and C/Us of girls stitching tapestry work in the open air. Fishing village of Camara de Lobos. Various shots of the village and of fishermen and children on the beach. Men watch as a large fish is brought into the beach. A large “espada“ is gutted on the beach.
