YOL: Sufî music by Kudsi Erguner & Pierre Rigopoulos
Yol (mean. journey) is a project for which the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar - Transcultural Music Studies invited two high-class musicians Turkish Kudsi Erguner and France-Greek Pierre Rigopoulos.
Recorded in July 2013 at the Festsaal Fürstenhaus, Weimar.

KUDSI ERGUNER: Ney (Turkish)
Kudsi Erguner is a celebrated Turkish musician, mastering in Mevlevi and Sufi music. His is most reputed for his reed-flute playing, more commonly known as Ney in Turkish. Erguner honors his family tradition following the lead of his grandfather and father and aims to further the profession with his Ney school in Paris.
He is a virtuoso of the Ney and a sufi master, conditions that make his interpretations prayers of exaltation.
PIERRE RIGOPOULOS: French (Greek family descent) percussionist
Pierre Rigopoulos studied contemporary percussion at the Pantin Conservatoire, the Zarb (Iranian drum) became his main instrument there. Versatile percussionist he plays in jazz bands, traditional or classical music for theatrical performances, dance or opera. He is member of French baroque ensemble “Les Musiciens De Saint-Julien“ who founded by François Lazarevitch in 2005.
There follows learning Zarb with Jean-Pierre Drouet. Contemporary music he practices several years while continuing to study with Bruno Caillat and Djamchid Chemirani.
