Edinburgh International Festival brings us together to listen, to gather, to seek. To feel united in connection, conversation and celebration, of the rituals that define and bind us. Music, Theatre, Opera, Dance 2–25 August ‘Rituals That Unite Us’ is our theme for the 2024 Edinburgh International Festival, responding to an overwhelming desire for togetherness from artists and audiences following on from Festival Director Nicola Benedetti’s 2023 question ‘Where Do We Go From Here?’. From immersive beanbag concerts and virtual reality to drop-in rehearsals and a site-specific promenade opera, the 2024 programme is defined by a deepened commitment to creating a closer union between audiences and artists through innovative and informal experiences.
