Former PM Tony Abbott defends Melbourne protesters
Former Prime Minister Tony Abbott has defended the actions of protesters who stormed Melbourne’s Shrine of Remembrance last week.
Mr Abbott says the demonstrators were acting within their rights to protest against Victoria’s coronavirus restrictions which he believes are becoming unreasonable.
He also criticised the actions of police – likening their conduct to wartime soldiers.
He dismissed claims by the CFMEU and Labor party that the protesters were infiltrated by right-wing neo-Nazis.
