(Explanation in French) Cette semaine nous travaillons les trois “e“: (1) “e-fermé“ /e/ --bébé, révéler, téléréalité, réputé, négligé, (2) “e-ouvert“ /ɛ/ -- terre, lettre, vaisselle, adepte, nef, (3) “e-muet“ /ə/ -- petit, demain, appartement, ressource, nous menons, (4) sons combinés--je préfère, je mène, vous menez, Néerlandais, les élèves, espérer. English explanation--This week we’ll work on the three “e“ sounds in French: (1) There is the mid-high /e/, with the tongue forward and the lips spread, as in “télé“. (2) There is the more open /ɛ/ (mid-low vowel), as in “terre“. (3) And, for the “mute-e“ /ə/, the tongue is in neutral position in the center of the oral cavity, but the lips are rounded, as in “me, te, se“.
