Camera Interviews - Billy Bennett - Almost A Gentleman (1927)

An intertitle tells us that Billy Bennett (who is “almost a gentleman“) is seen leaving his Club (shot missing). Intertitle reads: “He likes the best of everything - all the best restaurants know him as a man of taste...“ We see Billy Bennett emerging from a fish and chip shop. Signs on the windows advertise Fish Suppers and Fish Dinners. Billy wears a top hat and a sort of caped coat. He is shaking vinegar on to his chips. A man and a woman come out after him - the man (who apparently works in the chip shop) takes the vinegar off him. The woman stands by Billy’s side eating her chips. C/U of the comedy duo eating their chips from newspaper. Billy has a large fake moustache and the woman wears geeky round glasses and a funny hat. They look a bit grumpy and Billy chucks one of his chips on the ground. They walk off together. “Billy’s fondness for sport is exemplified in the skill and grace which accompany his efforts....“ Billy has a go at playing darts. M/S of him throwing his arrows. C/U o
