The Tyre Collective - capturing micro-plastic pollution from tyre wear

Today, half a million tonnes of tyre particles are produced annually in Europe alone, from vehicles accelerating, braking and cornering. Tyre wear is the subsequently the second largest micro-plastic pollutant in our oceans after single-use plastic. The UK 2020 James Dyson Award national winner, The Tyre Collective, aims to capture this pollution using a device fitted to a vehicle wheel that uses electrostatics to collect particles as they are emitted from tyres.
